According to Jane Lee of MLB.com, Athletics manager Bob Melvin said yesterday that Ryan Cook could be shut down from throwing for a couple of weeks due to right shoulder inflammation.

"Ryan's used to having a lot on his plate and he takes his passion for cooking — and the food business as a whole — seriously," a source said, revealing Seacrest has the prowess to do it.

Ryan Cook struggled somewhat down the stretch last season and allowed 13 runs in five spring training appearances, so the A’s have demoted the former All-Star reliever to Triple-A.

The Athletics have recalled right-handed reliever Chad Smith from Triple-A Nashville and demoted righty Ryan Cook.
